Our recent babies that have arrived on our farm are baby chicks, 25 to be exact. We have never gotten baby chicks this early in the season, so it's been a bit of work to keep them warm and alive. We first had them in our home during the very bitter cold temps, but we have decided not to do that again and will have a totally different system the next time we get chicks.
Our last pigs we butchered the first part of January. This also is the earliest that we had gotten pigs and when they were born December 24th 2024, they survived the harsh below zero temps just fine. They are adjusting well and already are getting big.
The two calves are not recent to our farm. They both were born in the fall to two different moms. The first one is #3 and she's a heifer and her momma is Rose our beef cow.
This one is #4 and he was a bull and was born early December and his momma is Lazer our milk cow.
It's so nice having new life on the farm.
They are so cute! Nothing like babies on the farm in the Spring!
