I love sunflowers and I really need to plant some next year.  I thought I did, but in July when I found the sunflower seed packet unopened I knew I had forgotten :(

The colors are not that colorful this year.  It seems when we have a wet spring and summer the colors aren't as vibrant.

Driving though Amish country, we had an Amish wagon pull out in front of us.  It's a good thing we were sight seeing and going slow.  You can't see her but an Amish woman was driving the team.

Around here we pretty much find these along the sides of the road in the ditches or growing right along the fence lines.

I spied these barns tucked along side of the hills on our way to Madison last Sunday.  They're still in great shape and I noticed the barn over on the far right where the corn seems to be hiding it.  They all seem to be pretty weathered but still in good shape.

I think this farmer is probably in his 90's and he still farms.

Still in good shape, but showing some neglect.  I sure hope this old schoolhouse doesn't get left to neglect.

Passed this barn down in Arkansas earlier this month.  It was pretty much covered up.

Passed by an Amish farm, the farmer had cut and stacked the hay.

Somewhere in Arkansas we came upon this home.  It's seen better days.  I can only think as I looked at this place that it was someones dream home at one time.  I'm sure there is a "new" family living here now, as you can tell how well kept the yard is, and there's a bike and a clothes line.

Heading to the quilt retreat I went to last weekend, I passed this herd of cattle resting in the warm mid-day sun.  One was trying to stay cool by standing in the creek.

Heading down a country road in Door County a couple of weeks ago lead us to this beautiful abandoned farm.  I'm not sure if the barn quilt is old or if it was put there later.  The farm is now in the Door County Land Trust.

A barn 3 miles down the road has recently decorated the side of their barn.  I totally love this idea.

I took this shot of some Amish youngsters getting together playing a game of softball last fall.

It reminded me of my days of being young and gathering with other young teens from my church.

It's been raining here a lot and there is plenty to eat, now it's time to rest.

Heading to Illinois we pass this silo, so when I went there this past weekend I had to stop and take a photo of it.  I wish I had gotten out of the van and crossed the road, but I was being a bit lazy about it, and thus the lines got in the shot (sorry about that).

I pass this fence post on my way to town, and this rolled barbed wire has been on this post since we moved here in 2010.  I always wonder why farmers keep rolled up barbed wire on fence posts.

I just love how when you stop to look at the cows, they will look and stare you down :)

I've posted about this church on my main blog before.  This church is getting more and more in disrepair.  This shot was taken in the fall and since this shot the church steeple has fallen even more over.
