Heading home from La Crosse Wisconsin.

December 09, 2013

standing alone

In October I looked out across the alfalfa field and noticed this tree really stood out alone.  I grabbed my camera and snapped a shot.

I found this while driving up on a ridge.

Our first dusting of snow here in the Ocooch Mountains.

old gas pump

I love this old pump that sits next to an old building, I don't think it's been used in quite awhile.

November 03, 2013

Heading to a friends house the other day, we passed some longhorns on the way.

October 29, 2013

Heading down the road from visiting a friend.

October 22, 2013

sunflower head

I love sunflowers and I really need to plant some next year.  I thought I did, but in July when I found the sunflower seed packet unopened I knew I had forgotten :(

October 19, 2013

tin roof

I went a different way to town and got some new shots.

October 03, 2013

sheep in the meadow

The colors are not that colorful this year.  It seems when we have a wet spring and summer the colors aren't as vibrant.

September 21, 2013

corn stacks

Driving though Amish country, we had an Amish wagon pull out in front of us.  It's a good thing we were sight seeing and going slow.  You can't see her but an Amish woman was driving the team.

September 19, 2013

having lunch

It was a dreary rainy day when I passed this herd having lunch.

September 11, 2013

Around here we pretty much find these along the sides of the road in the ditches or growing right along the fence lines.

September 10, 2013

weathered barns

I spied these barns tucked along side of the hills on our way to Madison last Sunday.  They're still in great shape and I noticed the barn over on the far right where the corn seems to be hiding it.  They all seem to be pretty weathered but still in good shape.

the farmer

I think this farmer is probably in his 90's and he still farms.

September 04, 2013

one room school house

Still in good shape, but showing some neglect.  I sure hope this old schoolhouse doesn't get left to neglect.

August 25, 2013

covered barn

Passed this barn down in Arkansas earlier this month.  It was pretty much covered up.

August 21, 2013

Passed by an Amish farm, the farmer had cut and stacked the hay.

August 13, 2013

rural america

Somewhere in Arkansas we came upon this home.  It's seen better days.  I can only think as I looked at this place that it was someones dream home at one time.  I'm sure there is a "new" family living here now, as you can tell how well kept the yard is, and there's a bike and a clothes line.

August 06, 2013

rolling hills

This is a bit south of us, the hills are more rolling in this area.

July 30, 2013

right of way

R/W or ROW=Right of Way
This was found up high on a ridge top.

open gate

I hope whatever was on the other side of this fence didn't get out.

July 25, 2013

hungry fox

I love that last shot of the fox, even tho it's a bit blurry it looks cool.

July 12, 2013

trying to stay cool

Heading to the quilt retreat I went to last weekend, I passed this herd of cattle resting in the warm mid-day sun.  One was trying to stay cool by standing in the creek.

July 03, 2013

I loved the reflection in this shot.

July 01, 2013

door county quilt barn

Heading down a country road in Door County a couple of weeks ago lead us to this beautiful abandoned farm.  I'm not sure if the barn quilt is old or if it was put there later.  The farm is now in the Door County Land Trust.

I love seeing it in the fields and along the fence lines.

June 09, 2013

A barn 3 miles down the road has recently decorated the side of their barn.  I totally love this idea.

June 07, 2013

amish teens

I took this shot of some Amish youngsters getting together playing a game of softball last fall.
It reminded me of my days of being young and gathering with other young teens from my church.

June 06, 2013

Haven't seen any bulls in the pasture, maybe they all sold.

June 05, 2013

It's been raining here a lot and there is plenty to eat, now it's time to rest.

June 02, 2013

miller high life

Heading to Illinois we pass this silo, so when I went there this past weekend I had to stop and take a photo of it.  I wish I had gotten out of the van and crossed the road, but I was being a bit lazy about it, and thus the lines got in the shot (sorry about that).

May 28, 2013

rolled barbed wire

I pass this fence post on my way to town, and this rolled barbed wire has been on this post since we moved here in 2010.  I always wonder why farmers keep rolled up barbed wire on fence posts.

May 27, 2013

the stare down

I just love how when you stop to look at the cows, they will look and stare you down :)

May 26, 2013

bethel chapel

I've posted about this church on my main blog before.  This church is getting more and more in disrepair.  This shot was taken in the fall and since this shot the church steeple has fallen even more over.

waiting for snow

The chains are still on this tractor.  Not sure if it had broke down this winter or if it's where the owners keep it.
